Finding God in Dark Places |

This world can seem pretty dark nowadays. With war, disease, depression, and death running rampant, it’s easy to become discouraged and ask, “Where is God in all of this?”
I know I’ve asked that question many times over the past few years. Unfortunately, the enemy loves to take this thought and run with it, convincing us that God is no longer with us. Of course, this is a lie, as our Heavenly Father never leaves our side. But it can definitely feel very real in the midst of it.
When the worst possibility becomes a reality, and our life is wrecked by a diagnosis, suicide attempt, or unexpected funeral, it can feel like the darkness is enveloping our whole being.
In these times, we must remember the truth. Though we may feel like we’re in the dark, our Savior— the LIGHT of the world— is always there. We may be in the darkest hour of the night, but if we simply turn around, we will see God and His big, bright light standing right there with us. Crying with us, weeping with us, collecting each one of our tears in His hands.
God doesn’t inflict these circumstances on us, nor does He enjoy seeing us in pain. It is quite the opposite. When our heart breaks, His does too. The reality is, we live in a fallen, broken world filled with chaos, violence, and pain.
The good news is; we are just passing through. In this world, but not of it. So don’t let the darkness blind you from the loving presence of your Father. It may seem bleak, hopeless, and heavy right now, but we must remember that we never go through it alone.
John 1:5 – The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Psalm 18:28 – For it is You who lights my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:6 – For God, Who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts...
Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
