Quieting the Whispers & Reaffirming Your Worth |

"Nobody really cares about you.” “You aren’t good enough.” “You aren't smart enough.” “You better not get your hopes up this time.” “Why even try? You’re never going to succeed.” “You will never amount to anything.” “Don’t kid yourself, you aren’t capable of doing that.” “You’re going to fail and everyone is going to laugh at you.” “Who could love you with all those flaws? You'll never find someone.” These are some of the lies that have run through my head (& probably your’s too). Lies spoken by the enemy. Lies that are so convincing in the moment, it’s almost impossible not to believe them. I have an important question for you: Have you been listening to the lies more than the truth? Do you even believe some of these lies? Have they convinced you that you’re so unworthy and broken that no one could love you, not even God? Then let me start by saying, they are wrong. In fact, they couldn’t be farther from the Truth. Whether you’ve been taught this Truth already or are just hearing it for the first time, the lies of the enemy are one of the most powerful weapons he can use against us. I think we’d be lying if we said we never at least considered one of these lies as truth. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, he’s that good. In fact, he can even make it feel like it’s our idea. But it’s not. Because we were made in God’s image, and God is Love, thus these lies are not rooted in Love but in hate. And hate is from the enemy. It’s much easier said than done, I know. When you’re laying in bed at night and all you can hear are these thoughts swirling around in your head, it’s hard to pay attention to anything else. The world seems dark and hopeless, and your worth is pierced by the sharp grip of his lies. It’s very hard to come out of. I often have to go to sleep and wake up to a new day before I can see the Truth clearly once again. I want to help us escape these moments before the enemy even finishes his sentence. I want us to know the Truth so well that any lie we hear from the enemy is simply that: a lie. False. Untrue. Invalid. Not even worth considering. But how? How do we shield ourselves from the lies? It’s simple really: we combat them with Truth. Each one. If I was being told, “You aren’t anything special,” I would combat this lie with the Truth found in Psalm 139, which says “You are a child of God. You are wonderfully made, dearly loved, and precious in His sight. Before God made you, He knew you...There is no one else like you.” Here are a few more examples...
“Nobody would ever want me.” I chose you. I wanted you. I appointed you. I set you where you are.
-John 15:16 “I'm not strong enough.” The Lord God is my strength, my bravery. He will walk me through places of trouble and suffering.
-Habakkuk 3:19
“I'm unlovable.”
You are precious to Me, you are honored in My sight, and I love you.
-Isaiah 43:4
“I'm not good enough.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us.
-Romans 8:37
"I've made too many mistakes."
Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand.
-Psalm 37:24
“It will never get better.” The pain you’ve been feeling cannot compare to the joy that’s coming. -Romans 8:18
"I'm all alone in this world."
Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.
-Hebrews 13:5
I pray these verses help with quieting the lies and reaffirming your worth in Christ.
Remember—You are loved. You are worthy. You are enough.
