Seeing Yourself Through God's Eyes Instead of Their's |

Have you ever felt like the opinion of one person sets the standard for how you see yourself? No matter what anyone else says, if this person approves and "loves" you, only then do you feel adequate and worthy of such love. But what happens when this person leaves your life? Are you suddenly not worthy or wanted? No, of course not. You are still the same YOU that you were prior to and during this person being in your life. The only difference is they're no longer there to give you that approval, that sense of belonging, that cure to your loneliness.

So now what? How do you get back to being you and feeling worthy of all that you desire? You simply look to God. HE is the only One whose opinion truly matters. And do you know how He sees you? God says you are precious and beautiful and special and strong. He says you're worthy, forgiven, and free. You are free, my friend! Free from the hurt, the pain, and the sadness that feel like chains around your heart. Free from the destruction that this one person caused. You don't have to focus on it or let it control you any longer. There's no need to replay everything in your head, going backwards instead of forwards. You are enough. You are worth it. You are wanted.

It doesn't matter who has told you otherwise (either through their words or actions) because the Creator of the universe, the Author of your story, has rebuked such things a million times over! He loves you SO MUCH that it's impossible to even wrap your brain around it. He created YOU. He thought YOU up. He decided that the world needed one of YOU. You are not an accident, you are not a mistake, and you are not here by chance. You were created on purpose for a purpose. So don't let one person take that purpose away from you. You are no less worthy or beautiful or desirable than you were when this one person was a part of your life; God has simply turned the page to the next chapter in which this person is no longer a main character.

So focus on what's ahead: the unfolding of the rest of your story! Because I know for sure that it will be filled with His Love, Mercy, and Grace – something so invaluable and freeing. A freedom you could never get from that one person.
